About

Welcome to the site for an elective class at Michaelis, ‘Environmental Interventions’. The course was started by Virginia MacKenny and Ralph Borland in 2012.

This 4-week course asks students to apply the ‘interventionist’ mode to environmental concerns while exploring and engaging with the presence of nature in the city. It presents different ways of ‘reading’ the city, locating nature, questioning what is ‘natural’, investigating complex environmental issues, and working out ways to act on issues and to communicate them to audiences.

Students’ midway presentations from those years are under ‘Midway presentations‘, and their final projects are under ‘Final projects‘. The ‘References‘ page houses links to content relevant to the course,  and ‘Events‘ notes events of interest to the course.
