Translation, 2006
Jacket made from fabric bought in Mupedza Nhamo market, Harare, Zimbabwe, in 2004

'Translation' is an act of double-piracy or homage. The fabric I bought in Zimbabwe because the combination of subservience to and subversion of a major brand fascinated me. It isn't a copy - Nike wouldn't make a fabric like this. I designed and had a jacket made with the fabric that represents my idea of a street-smart jacket - like the fabric, derived from Nike but not a slavish copy of it.

The jacket is exhibited on a cast of my upper body, concealed within the jacket. A small bracket allows the jacket to float just away from the wall.
